General insurance code of practice

The general insurance industry first introduced a General Insurance Code of Practice in 1994.

The code has been very successful in raising the standards of practice and service across the insurance industry.

The new Code launched in 2005 includes specific benchmarks for dealing with claims and complaints, and helping consumers get a better understanding of insurance products.

In a world first the code now provides protection for both personal and business insurance customers.
